These Organizations Are Closing the Wealth Gap with Entrepreneurial Solutions

Did you know that, in Chicago, it was found that fewer than 15% of establishments were Black-owned and less than 10% were Latinx-owned. In neighborhoods across the city—especially on the West and South Sides—these communities suffer from Chicago’s notorious wealth disparities

But can entrepreneurial approaches alleviate the effects of the region’s economic inequities? With investment and resources, Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago (ICNC) and Sunshine Enterprises are betting that they can. These two organizations on the city’s South and West Sides provide vital resources to small business owners whose ventures are contributing to the revitalization of divested communities.

Learn more about Mind the Gap, presented in partnership with The Chicago Community Trust, and how you can support the work of these organizations and others in the city who are positively impacting Chicago’s wealth gap at the ICNC and Sunshine Enterprises websites.
