Fellow Follow-Up: Adam Lowy & Move for Hunger

We met up with BHSI Fellow Adam Lowy of Move for Hunger! We took the time to catch up with Adam and find out what he’s been doing since CIW in October. Here’s what Adam had to say:
What has your organization been up to since CIW?

Move For Hunger has been incredibly busy since CIW.  We were honored on the NBC American Giving Awards (hosted by Bob Costas) in December.  We were highlighted as 1 of 5 charities (and were by far the youngest charity in the room) on national television – it was an incredible experience.  We’ve also continued to grow our network, and have brought on some major new partners to join our hunger fight.  Currently, we’re rolling out a Real Estate Program, to get realtors involved in educating people about hunger at the local level, and we’re planning some major events in 2012!

How have you used the grant money or how do you plan to use it?

The grant money has been a tremendous help!  In 2011, we organized 70 hunger relief events.  In 2012, we hope to organize 150.  We’ll soon be bringing on a new full-time Events Director to help make this happen.  Events are a HUGE part of what we do, and raise greater awareness about hunger in America.  It’s only suitable that we use some of this funding to host a BIG EVENT in Chicago this year.  More to come on that soon 🙂
What other impact have CIW and the fellowship had on your organization?
CIW and the fellowship has been amazing both for Move For Hunger and myself personally.  Connecting with the other fellows and sharing ideas was an invaluable experience.  I made some lifelong friends, and created new connections that will drive our organization to create an even larger impact.  Some of the Chicago-based companies I was introduced during CIW will soon become partners in our hunger relief efforts.
We’re so excited to hear more about Adam’s Chicago connections. We have no doubt that big things are ahead! Thanks for stopping by, Adam!
