Chicago’s Iconic Navy Pier: More than a Tourist Destination

COMMUNITY AREA #8: Near North Side (Streeterville)—Sequence Ch!cago @ Navy Pier

To many Chicagoans, Navy Pier is nearly synonymous with tourism. But did you know that the Pier offers free year-round programs that provide a platform for local creators to share their work? Last year alone, the Pier partnered with more than 1,000 local performers and 50 cultural organizations to host 250 (!) of these free events. Sequence Ch!cago, supported by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, is a free fall/winter series that celebrates Chicago-based artists, musicians, cultural organizations and more, and just one representation of the programming. Watch to learn more, then visit navypier.org to get involved and support local creators.

The 77 Project is a storytelling and media project presented in partnership with Xfinity with additional support from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to help redefine the narrative of our neighborhoods from the inside out. We’ll spend the remainder of 2018 shining a light on organizations and individuals in each of the 77 community areas of Chicago who are making a positive impact. Know someone we should speak with? Recommend them here.
