The CIW 5: Rachel Graham Is Reimagining Our City’s Future

In The CIW 5, we ask you to tell us the five CIW events that cannot be missed. Today’s subject: Rachel Graham, our director of CIW YOU(th), who is ready to look toward our city’s future.

1. The Talk You’d Skip Work to See

Race in America (Tuesday, October 13, 4 – 5:30pm) and A City Divided: Reimagining the Future of Race in Chicago (Wednesday, October 14, 12 1pm) will teach us how to have the tough conversations we all need to be engaged in in order to move our society toward greater equality.

Rachel Graham will save a seat for you at Top of Their Game: Entrepreneurs & Their Startup Stories.

2. The Evening Talk You Plan to Invite All of Your Friends To

Top of Their Game: Entrepreneurs & Their Startup Stories (Wednesday, October 14, 7 – 8:30pm). I am so excited to see this many powerhouse entrepreneurs on one stage. (P.S. Just take a closer look at that lineup.)

3. The Conversation You’re Anxious to Be a Part of

The Unraveling of the American Justice System (Saturday, October 17, 4  5pm) It’s something I think about all of the time. How do we fix a broken system?

4. The Lab That You Can’t Wait to Explore

Anytime I can go to the Art Institute, I’m there, so an inside guide into their Arms & Armor collection looks fascinating (Arts, Arms & Armor at the Art Institute of Chicago, Thursday, October 15, 5 – 6:30pm) I’m even told there is a knight in shining armor there.

5. The Speaker Whose Ideas Absolutely Fascinate You

Everyone at Cultural Icons (Wednesday, October 14, 4 – 5:30pm) is going to give a glimpse into the people we think we know. But I am in awe of Stuart Scott’s strength, and the strength of his family, and I know that the conversation between Scott’s partner Kristin Spodobalski and co-author Larry Platt will be something very, very special.

Erin Robertson is managing editor at Chicago Ideas.
